I love being on the computer; I am especially addicted to Pinterest. When it comes to writing thought, a notebook and a pen are my go to items. I've tried writing on the computer and usually come up short. I don't know the reason for this but I'm more comfortable writing on paper, the ideas seem to flow better. I already had a feeling about this but I experimented last night, sort of unintentionally.
I had the pleasure of working the boring night shift last night so I was left with plenty of time to think and come up with writing ideas. When I came home I turned on the computer and opened up One Note and started typing...or so I tried. My head was filled with ideas, and I had a few notes jotted down on scrap paper but for some reason I couldn't sit there and type them out on the screen. I opened my Internet browser and headed to Pinterest for inspiration. After browsing for a while, I was feeling inspired again so I opened One Note back up and gave it another go. Again, nothing.
I closed One Note browsed Pinterest a bit longer then shut the computer off. As I was getting ready for bed my head started to fill with ideas again. I finished my usual nighttime routine then decided to give writing another go, this time, with a notebook and pen. I sat down on the living room couch with a pen in my hand and just started writing. It came so easily to me and I filled 4 pages before I decided that I should probably go to bed.
I should have know this, as all the stories I wrote in my teen years were on notebook paper, I couldn't write on the computer back then. I thought as an adult it would be easier, but it's not. I'm not sure why I thought that, but I did. Now I know to always have a pen and paper handy.
