You know when you have a craving for something and no matter what you do, it just won't go away.
Yeah, I had that the other day. I'm not usually a brownie (or cookie) fan, but I was craving the chocolaty goodness for a few days.
I came home the other day to whip up a batch of brownies and discovered I was out of butter. I never run out of that stuff but, oh well...I didn't need the junk anyway. I figured when I went grocery shopping a few days later the craving would be gone, but nope…it was still there. So I figured I had to make them.
These were so simple to make and oh so good. Almost a cross between fudge and cake…Yum!
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350.
Combine flour, cocoa, and salt; set aside. In the bowl cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla. Add flour mixture just until combined.
Spread into a lightly greased 13x9. Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Shut off oven and take brownies out. Sprinkle with chocolate chips; Put back into hot oven for another minute or two until chips are slightly melted. Spread melted chips with a spatula.
Cool completely before serving.
I cut these into small squares because they ended up being so rich and sweet. They taste delicious with a glass of iced cold milk and are perfect for taking care of that sweet tooth.
