Hamburger Goulash

The other night I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner. My husband and I both wanted to grab take-out but with him being laid off, and me being the only income we don't really have the option , so I broke out my recipe books to find something to satisfy our craving.  We were both in the mood for something gooey, and comforting. I came across a few recipes for hamburger goulash but none of them seemed to fit the bill so I created my own flavorful dish.

1  onion,  chopped

2 stalks of celery, chopped*

1-1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1 tablespoon Paprika

1  cup ketchup

4 tbs brown sugar

2 tablespoon Worcestershire

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1 1/2 cup water

2-3 tbs. flour ( I just grabbed a handful…)

1 cup frozen peas

In a pan cook onion, celery, and ground beef. When meat is no longer pink and onion and celery are tender stir in flour. Add remaining ingredients along with salt and pepper. (I sprinkled a little parsley too at this stage, not a lot, just a sprinkle.)  Let simmer for about 30 minutes. Add frozen peas. Cook for 5-10 minutes longer. Server over mashed potatoe

f your in the mood for something gooey and comforting, this is the dish.

*Note: The picture shows it sliced, but it took longer to cook so I chopped it the other times I've made it.

  1. I should try this! It sounds very good. I haven't made goulash in years.

Don't be shy! Stop by and say hello!
