I'm not a fan of the crock pot.
I know, I know, I'm in the minority I'm sure, but I never can get anything good out of it…until recently. Maybe I cook it too long, or add too much liquid (I do follow the recipe….sometimes) but everything I end up making usually comes out like a pile of mush. It tastes good, but it's mushy…does anyone else have this problem? I can't be the only one, right?
Well, I found a recipe while browsing pinterest for crock pot apple sauce…well, I found many, so I decided to give it a try, and guess what??? It's supposed to be mushy so I figured it would be perfect for the crock pot. Let me just tell you, this is by far the easiest recipe and it beats the flavor of the store bought stuff by a landslide.
1 tsp cinnamon
3 tbs brown sugar (optional)
2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 cup water
Peel and core apples; cut in to chunks. Place in a crock pot and add other ingredients. Place cover on and set to low for 4-6 hours.
That is it! Effortless, too. At least now I can use my crock pot to make something that is actually supposed to be mushy. With apples in season now you can't beat the freshness and the flavor. Oh and guess what? It makes your home smell wonderful.
