Brown sugar cinnamon twists


This is my favorite time to cook and bake anything and everything. I don't seem to make as many things  in the Spring and summer, as I do this time of year. It may be the weather, it may be the holidays, I don't know…but this time of year always bring out the baker in me.
 
 
 

 

Even though I'm the one in the house with a set of sweet teeth, this time my husband was craving something sweet so I decided to whip up a batch of Brown Sugar Cinnamon Twists. These were so simple to make. If you like pie crust, you surely are going to love these.

 

Dough (my go to pie crust recipe):

 

2 cups of flour

2 sticks of butter

2 Tbs. apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup milk

 

Filling:

 

1/2 stick of butter, melted

1/2 -3/4 cup of brown sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

 

In a food processor add flour and butter. Pulse until crumbly. Add vinegar and milk. Process until dough forms.

 

Preheat oven to 350.

 

Roll out dough into a large rectangle about a 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter (you probably won't need it all in this step). Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Gently press it into the dough so it doesn't all sprinkle off when you twist it.  Cut into about 1-1/2 inch wide strips. Twist loosely. Place on parchment lined cookie sheet . Brush with extra butter and bake for about 25 minutes or until slightly golden brown.

 
 

These taste good right out of the oven (just don't burn yourself!) or when they are cooled. Just make sure you've got a napkin handy though to catch all the crumbs.
