It's been freezing around here lately. I guess that's what you get when you live in New England and it's October. It's going to be cold. When it's cold and raw outside all I want to do is put something comfortable on, wrap up in a blanket and watch TV. As much as I love a piping hot cup of coffee to warm me up, I try to only drink one [big] glass of it a day, so my other option to stay warm is Hot Chocolate.
Who doesn't love hot chocolate? Well, me, I was never a fan of packaged hot chocolate, it always left a funny taste in my mouth so I started making my own. I must be sensitive because a lot of prepackaged and premade foods taste off to me, so I make a majority of things from scratch. Thank goodness I like to cook or I'd be in trouble!
I use orgainc ingredients but you can most definitely make this with non organic if you choose.
3/4 cup of coco powder
1 1/2 cup dry milk powder
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
In a food processor combine all ingredient, except whipped cream. Process until combined and chocolate chips are broken up and in really small pieces.
To make Hot Chocolate; put three tablespoons of powder into a mug. Heat 1 cup of milk until it's warm in the microwave or on the stovetop. Pour into mug, stir then top with whipped cream if desired.
With Christmas coming up, this would make the perfect gift. Yes, I'm already thinking about Christmas!
