Reading List

Hello there! What a week. I haven't done much in the creative department. It comes in spurts. I have been doing a lot of reading and writing though. I guess you could call that creative, the writing anyway.  I've picked up a few books here and there; a few from Amazon, a few from the thrift store, and a believe it or not some from the Dollar Tree.

I bought a book from the Dollar Tree before, well, actually a couple and I have been less than impressed. After reading a chapter or two I understood why they were there. BORING. But, I have been lucky with a few so I've decided to keep looking. You've got to really dig.

Here is the pile of books that I am reading, waiting to read and waiting for a permanent home.

The top one: Quiet: The power of Introverts in a world that can't stop talking, by Susan Cain is one that I am reading now. Well, I've been reading it for a while. It is a good book and well written too, I'm just not much of a self help book type of person. I bought it because it got good reviews and maybe I can figure something out about my introverted self. So far so good, but definitely not the type of book I normally read.

This must be the place by Kate Racculia, was the first book that I read to get me out of my non reading rut.  It was really good! I can't wait to read it again. It made me remember how much I liked reading.

The way to Bright Star, by Dee Brown was one that I picked up at the dollar store and I was impressed. Not the best book I've ever read, but it was pretty good. I could actually finish it…which is saying a lot because most of the books I've picked up at the dollar store, I couldn't even bare to finish

True Colors by Kristin Hannah, I picked up at the thrift store for a $1. I read one other book by this author, it was okay but good enough to try another book and for a $1 I figured if I didn't like it, I only paid a dollar. No biggie.

Next, a dictionary! I'm not reading it, but I do keep it with me while I am reading; if I don't know a word, I stop look it up and highlight it. This tip is from my wonderful hubby, who hates reading (AHHH!!). It's a great way to expand your vocabulary.

The next one, Cost by Roxana Robinson is what I am reading now, I'm only about 20 pages in but so far so good. This was another dollar store pick.

The day the Falls stood still, by Cathy Marie Buchanan is another dollar store one that I picked up today. I haven't read it yet.

The next one….ahh, Refuse to Choose by Barbara Sher, is a book I found by accident while doing a Google search on how the heck to figure out what to do with your life when you want to do everything. It was good, well written and I learned a lot, but again, I'm not really into the self help type books but wanted to read it.  I usually buy books that provoke the imagination but it's good to read stuff that you're not usually drawn to.

The last book, The yellow house by Patricia Falvey, was one I bought on a whim. I was purchasing something from Amazon and needed a few extra dollars to equal free shipping so I searched for a book, this one popped up somehow, I read the description , it sounded interesting so I bought it. I haven't read it yet.

So, there you have it. Those are just a few the books I have. Are you reading anything interesting?

I actually have a couple more, but they were put on the shelf before I decided to take a picture of these.

Until next time!
