Recipe Flop

Okay, so today I was going to share a recipe I found in one of my cooking magazines for Christmas soda syrup…I was excited because it sounded so good, but it turned out just wasn't anything special, It came out just…Meh…nothing to write home about. I actually threw it out after I took a few pictures.. I prefer just using 100% juice in seltzer….much better flavor.  But here's a pretty picture.

That's one thing that I love about cooking,  I love to experiment and try new things. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And that's OK.

My vanilla beans came in the mail today. I'm going to make some homemade vanilla extract to give away as gifts. I love to Christmas shop but this year with my husband still laid off, we just can't afford to get anyone much of anything.  The beans were a really great price, and  I feel really bad about not getting anyone anything for Christmas so I figured I would do something small. The people I gift to are bakers, so {hopefully} they will use it and don't mind waiting a few months before it is ready.

I even only ended up just getting my son 1 thing that he has been begging for, and a few other cheap things. We don't buy toys and things year round, that's why we kind of go crazy on Christmas; he's a good kid, he has his moments as does any other child (or adult) but is overall a good kid. It makes me sad, because I LOVE shopping for Christmas. Oh well, I am confident that 2013 will bring some changes, more opportunities and some better things.

 I can feel it.

  1. Sorry about your husband being laid off! I know so many people in the same situation as you! Things are tough right now for so many people. I love that you are hopeful and that you are going to have a wonderful Christmas anyway!

Don't be shy! Stop by and say hello!
