Friday!! I am so glad this week is almost over. It has just been so bizarre with everything has been going on. I hope it is no indication of how the year is going to go. If so, I hope the cave I'm moving to has internet access. Just kidding, but man will I be happy to see Sunday!
I've been in a creative funk lately. Maybe it's because I've been reading more and working on my novel, maybe it's because I've been working more, maybe because…. I don't know, it could be anything. I sat down to scrapbook the other day when I had some free time and my mind was blank. I just couldn't come up with anything. That has happened every time I've sad down to scrapbook in the recent months. I love scrapbooking and it made me sad that I couldn't' think of a single creative thing. So, I went onto Pinterest and found so much inspiration and tried it again. Nope. Nada, Nothing. Zilch.
Then I remembered something. You need to actually do stuff to boost creativity. And I've been doing anything but. I've been glued to the computer browsing Pinterest, or reading blogs drooling over the many creative things but never actually doing any of them.
One of the things I've always wanted to do, but put off for some reason was to create an Art journal. They just look so fun and seem like a great way to boost creativity. So I shut off the computer and started on the first pages of my New art journal. I chose to use a book. I bought it (mainly because the pages were so soft and felt like silk…I know, my husband thinks I'm a weirdo, too), tried to read it, but 50 pages in I couldn't take it anymore. It was a real snooze fest I went online and read the reviews and I wasn't alone (thank goodness!). So I figured I would it to good use and use it for my art journal. Here's what my first page looks like,
It's not perfect but that's how it's supposed to be. This is my creative space where there are no rules and no mistakes. I can't wait to work on it some more!
