Washi Birthday Layout

So, I've been actually getting some scrapbooking done. I'm surprised because my scrapbook area is a complete disaster. I can't normally start scrapbooking in a mess, the mess just comes with the hobby as I'm creating. Well, I was browsing Pinterest the other day and found a layout that was totally inspiring. I clicked on the link and it lead me to the twopeas blog.

I visit twopeasinabucket at least once a day and I had no idea they had a blog…where the heck have I been? Oh well, another blog to add to my ever growing reading list.  Well, here's the link to the one that inspired me to create this one. Here is the layout that inspired me to create the one I'm sharing with you today. It's the 4th one down, With the neon washi.

I oh so wish I had neon washi. Actually, I wish I had a whole boatload of washi but I don't so I had to use the few that I had on hand to come up with my own layout. I'm not a chronological scrapbooker so I knew the perfect photo to use for the layout that I had in mind. My birthday cake, from way back when in January.

I wanted to do something different for the title, so I traced some chipboard letters that I had with colored pencil and then filled it in with some diagonal stripes and outlined it in another color. I added a few other embellishments to complete the layout. Doesn't the washi make it look like fun birthday present?? I thought it did.

Embellishing is the hardest part for me but I'm pleased with the way this layout turned out.
