Simple Chili Dogs

Okay, where did the week go? Lately my weeks have been flying by. I can't even believe it's October. Never mind the week, where the heck did the year go? Before I know it, it's going to be 2014…that means in a few months I'm going to be 30. 94 days to be exact. Eeeeek. It can slow down anytime now. Would it be odd to start counting backwards at such a young age? I know most start in their 50's….but…I'm thinking about starting now.

All humor aside, I'm actually excited - well, not really exited but looking forward to my thirties - My 20's were kind of Meh, but I feel that my peak will be in my 30's. I feel like I'm finally coming into my own and figuring out the direction I want to take in life and everything else. Who really has their life figured out in their 20's anyway? Not many that I know.

Okay, enough talk about getting older.

Lately I've been working on getting super organized around my house. One major thing that I am working on is a meal planning system. It's not high tech by any means, but I think it will really help me save money,  save me from running to the store everyday, use some of the MANY recipes I have, and save me from having to decide what to make for dinner an hour before I we need to eat. Using more recipes means more recipes to share here. Yay! I knew you'd be excited! ;)

The other night, I was going through the freezer….trying to decide what to make for dinner…well, I found a pack of lonely hotdogs in the back of the freezer. Not wanting plain old boring hotdogs with Ketchup, I headed out to the store to find something to pair with it. (See? Meal planning would have saved me running to the store). I ended up picking up a can of chili.

I try to avoid most processed foods, but sometimes it's not possible, especially if you're not organized or don't feel like cooking after a long day of work. When I do need to resort to processed foods, I always read the labels and chose the "healthiest" with the least amount of ingredients. I chose Amy'sOrganic - Black bean Chili. . It was really good!(I don't get paid for this, I'm just giving my own honest opinion!)  And placed on top of a hotdog, made it all the more tastier.

If you need a recipe here it is:

Chili Dogs:

8 Hot Dogs (I used Applegate Brand)
8 Hot Dog buns  (recipe here)
1 can of Chili

Prepare hotdogs to your liking (fry, grill, steam, boil, etc) Place hotdog in bun and top with Chili.

Even though I love cooking, sometimes it's nice to not slave around in the kitchen. This meal takes the cake on being one of the simplest meals I've ever made.
