DIY: Brown Sugar

Monday! Oh how fast you creep up. Today I went shopping for Thanksgiving. Woot! I found everything except the butternut squash? Wouldn't you think there would be an abundance of it this time of year? I thought so. I went to two stores and couldn't find it. Eeeekkk. There's one more place I can check. Hopefully I can find it because butternut squash is one of my favorite side dishes for Thanksgivings.

So, the holidays are here! I love this time of year. I am also doing lots of baking and cooking. My baking cabinet is also fully stocked…well, usually.

The other night, I went make Maple Biscotti and I realized I had no brown sugar. Well, I didn't stress because brown sugar is one of the easiest things to make. If you run out of it, here is how you make it.

All you need is 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of molasses. 

That’s it! So simple. Just mix until combined then measure out the amount of brown sugar that you need.

I used it to make these Maple Walnut Biscotti from King Arthur Flour. They turned out perfectly.

I don't think I'll ever buy brown sugar again.

So, do you guys have any plans for Thanksgiving? Is it going to be a large affair or more of small event with just your immediate family? For me, it's just going to be a laid back day. My in-laws are coming over and they're pretty laid back people, so we'll be having have pretty laid back day. With lots of food!
