Scrapbook Layout: What I love about Summer

Whoops! I got sidetracked yesterday and forgot to post the layout I was working on. Since all my layouts and smash book pages have had a serious theme, I wanted to share something a little bit lighter and more fun. This layout is about all the things I love about summer.

Even though I don't do graphic design as a career (took that up in school, for those that don't know), I did take a lot of knowledge from those classes -- Mainly my advertising class which was my favorite. That probably explains why I love scrapbooking so much. Hmmmm.  When creating, I try to apply some of that knowledge to my layouts. Two major things that I took away are

Flow. The eye can't be all over the place.
Portray a message with the design without being obvious

This layout I feel uses those two things. Your eye starts at the top and finds its way down the bottom

And the next one, the blue wave paper with the square of brown on top is representative of the beach. Although the beach isn't the main reason I love the summer, it is a MAJOR reason I love the summer and I wanted that to be the main focus of the page.

I haven't had my coffee yet, so today's post is short and sweet.  I'm sure I will make up for that in a later post. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. See you Monday!
